Variant 6 presents a program that traces the influence of the madrigal from its roots in 17th-century Italy, to the German parodies of Schütz and the courtly music of Charpentier and Lully. Themes of pastoral love and sex appear again and again as the program tracks across Europe. Variant 6 is joined by baroque experts Sarah Kenner, Toma Iliev, Matt Zucker, and Benjamin Katz.
