In this program the founding member sopranos of Variant 6 - Jessica Beebe and Rebecca Myers - will explore the boundless possibilities of two both distinct and complementary soprano voices. Internationally acclaimed Philadelphia artists Leon Schelhase and Sarah Cunningham join them on harpsichord and viola da gamba for this luscious program of music by Purcell, Couperin, and Carissimi in themes of love, loss, faith, and philosophy.

May 17 at 7pm: Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting

May 18 at 8PM: University Lutheran Church, presented by Bowerbird

In this program Variant 6 presents music that explores the timeless theme of the natural world and its influence on the human condition. In a stunning presentation of music spanning over 1,000 years - from Renaissance composers like Claude le Jeune all the way through music of today by Edie Hill, Edith Canat de Chizy, and Pelle Gudmunsen-Holmgreen - this program will showcase the wide range of composer's reflections of the world we inhabit.

New Orleans tour

In February 2024, the artists of Variant 6 will travel to New Orleans to reprise excerpts from last season’s Virtue & Vice program with Filament Baroque and artists of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to presenting the entire Ursuline set from Virtue & Vice, we will also be performing excerpts from two 18th century operas that were premiered in New Orleans.

Stabat Mater

October 27 at 7 pm: First Presbyterian Church of Germantown

In this program Variant 6 and pianist Ting Ting Wong will explore the mysticism and inquisition of two contrasting composer’s takes on the concept of suffering.  The centerpiece of this program is Francis Poulenc’s rarely performed and dramatic Stabat Mater.  The other half of the program will highlight excerpts from Franz Liszt’s mystical and questioning Via Crucis.
